ArtSeen App - MFA Thesis

Artseen is a responsive web application. Used in art galleries, it helps visitors understand and connect with artists. Artseen acts as an audio and visual guide on a user's own phone.

Experience Artseen here. You can also see the concept video here and the inVision prototype here.

Challenge:
Conceptualize and create a product. My focus was on creating an app that enhanced an art gallery visitor's experience and also connected the artists to their audience.

Solution:
A responsive web application that takes the place of an audio tour guide. Users (gallery visitors) scan artwork and are shown supplemental audio and visuals right in the gallery and right from their phone.

My Role
Entire project from concept through completion.

Strategic Process:

  • Define positioning statement
  • Research inspiration and competitors
  • Create competitor analysis, competitor matrix

Visual Process:

  • create wireframes
  • create paper prototypes
  • design, brand, and create UI
  • identify final visual design guidelines & specifiications

User Experience Process:

  • identify target audience and secondary audience
  • conduct phone interviews with potential users and with artist
  • create personas
  • establish information architecture
  • conduct ethnographic research of museum goers and gallery visitors
  • plan and perform user testing (multiple rounds to test wireframes, paper prototypes, icons) in person and remote
